The 11th edition of the Ortigia Film Festival, the international film festival of the city of Syracuse, will take place from 13 to 20 July 2019. The call, along with the regulation and the entry forms can be consulted on the website www.ortigiafilmfestival.it, where it is also possible to register the films in the different sections of the festival or through the Filmfreeway platform.
The sections of the festival are:

Competitive ones
Feature Films, first and second Italian works
• International Documentary Competition
• International Short Film Competition

Non Competitive ones
• Cinema Women
• Cinema and Dance

For the first time this year the OFF documentary showcase becomes a competitive section. The two non-competitive sections launched for the tenth edition are confirmed: “Cinema Women”, dedicated to young directors of the international scene and “Cinema” in conjunction with another art, that this year will be “Cinema and Dance”.
The last edition saw: 52 screenings, 40 guests who met the audience, 14 media representatives, 2 European premieres,7 national previews, 19 regional previews and 20.000 spectators, confirming the festival’s commitment in promoting the chain of audiovision, with a particular attention to more independent forms, which create new visions and experimental languages, especially in short films.

An expert panel appointed by the director and the steering committee will award 4 prizes for the Italian feature films:
OFF11 Best Film Award
• OFF11 Best interpreter Award
• OFF11 Siae Best Screenplay Award
• OFF11 Laser Film Color Correction Award

The first classified feature film in the “Best Film” category will also receive the Laser Film Award. It includes a video post-production package worth 10.000€ for the making of the next movie: 40 hours of color correction at Laser Film laboratories.

For the International Short Film Competition section:
• OFF11 Best Short Film Award
• OFF11 Rai Cinema Channel Award

The Rai Cinema Channel prize of € 3,000 will be awarded to the most “web-like” short movie among those selected. The recognition wants to reward the efficacy of a story that could be suitable for being spread on web channels. The prize consists of a contract from Rai cinema to purchase the rights of the selected short movie, which will enjoy visibility on www.raicinemachannel.it and on its partner websites.
The jury can also attribute special mentions and awards to the works in competition.
The Ortigia Film Festival audience is a juror and this year will vote for the Best Film, Best Short Film and Best Documentary Award. The web portal Cinemaitaliano.info, in collaboration with the Ortigia Film Festival, will assign 2 awards to the “Truly Independent” Film and Interpreter of the year. The deadline to send the works is set for the 10th of May 2019.
